What is a dental emergency?

You may need emergency dental care if you experience:

Severe or persistent toothache.
Facial swelling or gum swelling.
Knocked-out tooth.
Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth.

Emergency treatment options

Depending on your condition, treatment may include:

Pain assessment and diagnosis

Immediate examination, including X-rays if needed, to quickly identify the source of dental pain or discomfort.

Cavities or lost fillings

Temporary or permanent fillings to restore damaged teeth and relieve sensitivity or pain.

Severe toothache or infection

Root canal treatment to remove infection, ease pain, and preserve the natural tooth where possible.

Unrestorable or problematic teeth

Gentle tooth extraction when a tooth is too damaged or infected to be saved.

Chipped or broken teeth

Loose crowns or bridges

Recementing to securely refit restorations and protect the underlying tooth.

Urgent care to reposition and stabilise a knocked-out tooth, giving it the best chance of being saved.

Bleeding or injured gums and soft tissue

Immediate treatment to control bleeding, clean the area, and promote proper healing.

Frequently asked questions

What to do in a dental emergency?

Knocked-out tooth

Hold the tooth by the crown (not the root)
Rinse gently if dirty (do not scrub)
Try to place it back in the socket if possible
If not, store it in milk or saliva
Contact us immediately — time is critical

Severe toothache

Rinse with warm salt water
Take over-the-counter pain relief (as directed)
Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum
Call us as soon as possible

Swelling or abscess

Swelling may indicate infection and should be treated urgently. Seek dental care promptly to prevent complications.

Had a HydraFacial with Sim at Skin and Smile and honestly couldn't be happier. She talked me through everything before we started, explained what each step was doing and made sure I was comfortable the whole way through.The treatment itself was really relaxing and my skin felt incredible straight after - properly clean, smooth and looking a lot fresher. A few days on and it's still looking great, even noticed my skin feels less congested than it has in ages.Sim is lovely, really knows her stuff and gave me some genuine advice for my skin rather than trying to push extra products on me. The clinic itself is spotless and has a really calm vibe too.Will definitely be back and would 100% recommend booking in with Sim if you're thinking about a HydraFacial.

I had a Hydrafacial with Sim and I honestly can’t explain how refreshed I felt after my appointment. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed. Came here today for a hydrafacial and it was fantastic! I cannot recommend these guys enough. I was in severe dental pain. They got me in for a same day appointment as I work within the area at the Chambers. The service was very efficient and professional. They treated my dental pain and scheduled further treatment. It was convenient for me as the practice is at my doorstep.
